Cuomo gives update on COVID-19 response, doesn’t give update on casinos

Governor Andrew Cuomo said just one person died from the Novel Coronavirus in the last 24 hours on a call with press.

Cuomo said that of the 66,241 tests reported, just 656 were positive. Hospitalizations also fell to 418.

The Governor gave credit to New Yorkers for compliance with health regulations, noting that they saved tens of thousands of lives.

The governor also said he believes that when K-12 schools reopen, communities will see similar risks and rises in cases that have been associated with colleges opening.

Some colleges have been forced to limit interaction or shut down due to spread following gatherings.

He didn’t make any decision on whether casinos could reopen. However, on Sunday he noted that a decision would come this week.
