Cuomo says COVID cases ticking upward in WNY, says rate must stay low to keep students in school

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that the Coronavirus infection rate is up 2% in Western New York.

That announcement was made during his presser on Thursday, which was held over a conference call.

For schools to remain open the infection rate in the region-at-large must stay below 9%.

The governor also said the Department of Health is setting up eight COVID-19 testing sites which will provide same-day results.

Cuomo says that colleges have more than 100 cases on any individual campus, or if 5% of its on-campus population tests positive for the virus, they will transition to fully-remote learning for at least two weeks.
