Shooting investigated near public park, drug store in Ithaca; suspects remain at-large

Police say on MOnday around 5:40 p.m. officers responded to several reports of shots fire in the area of North Cayuga Street near Thompson Park.

Upon arrival, officers located evidence and confirmed that a shooting had taken place in the Kinney Drugs parking lot. During that initial investigation, officers learned that there was an altercation between approximately four people.

An adult male subject was observed to have chased at least two younger male subject in- and around- the 500 block of North Cayuga Street and fired shots at them during the pursuit.


A canvas of the immediate and surrounding areas was conducted for any persons involved with no results. As of a press release Monday evening no individuals had been injured or arrested.

Police believe a newer model pickup truck was operated by one of the individuals involved. The color of the truck was said to be blue by police.

The scene was processed and released a short time later. There were a number of people in the area at the time of the incident, including pedestrians, and patrons of Thompson Park. Anyone with information is asked to call 607-272-3245.
