The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of two Canandaigua residents following a drug investigation.
Sheriff Kevin Henderson says Yamil Medina-Velazquez, and Angelica Amaral, both of Canandaigua were charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
During the week of August 17th, 2020, the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office responded to several opioid overdoses across the county. An investigator was assigned to each overdose in an attempt to identify the source of the narcotics used.
Henderson says investigators obtained information that Medina-Velazquez was distributing narcotics and were able to make at least one controlled buy of narcotics from him.
A search warrant was executed on August 21st at an apartment on County Road 10. During that process, deputies located fentanyl that was packaged for sale, electronic scales, and items used to package narcotics.
Both were arrested and charged. They were transported to the Ontario County Jail for processing and released.
The investigation into the overdoses remains active, according to Sheriff Henderson. He asks anyone with information about the incidents to call (585) 396-DRUG.
