The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports the investigation of a fatal crash that happened on Saturday around 4:15 p.m.
Deputies responded to the intersection of Halls Corners Road and Arden Road in Covert for a crash involving an all terrain vehicle.
Investigators determined that a passenger vehicle being operated by Dakota Potenza, 45, of Trumansburg was going west on Halls Corners Road when an ATV suddenly crossed the intersection after failing to stop at the sign.
The ATV was being operated by Robert Veeder, 53, of Interlaken. As result of the crash, Veeder sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to investigators.
The road was closed for approximately three hours and both vehicles were towed from the scene. Anyone with information about the incident should call (315) 220-3240.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Interlaken Fire Department, Lodi Fire Department, Ovid Fire Department, Trumansburg Ambulance, New York State Police and the New York State Park Police.
