Naples man dies after medical emergency, one-car crash in Ontario County

Deputies say a 71-year-old Naples man died in a crash on State Route 53 this week.

When first responders arrived on scene they found a white pickup truck with an unresponsive male inside.

Deputies say the truck was off the east side of the road, and was rested up against a guide rail.

Fire and EMS removed the operator, identified as Richard Allen, 71, of Naples from the vehicle and began CPR.

Deputies investigated the crash and determined that he left his home nearby, and was traveling toward the village of Naples when he suffered a medical emergency.

He was transported to FF Thompson Hospital where he suffered medical complications and died.

His cause of death remains under investigation, but is believed to be connected to that initial medical emergency, which led to the crash.
