Deputies: Newark man strangled victim until they lost consciousness during incident

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a 56-year-old Newark man following an incident that occurred in Manchester on August 10th.

Anthony Caruso Jr., 56, of Newark was charged with felony strangulation after an incident where the victim lost consciousness.


Additional details about the incident were not released.

Deputies noted in a press release that Caruso was arraigned and committed to the Ontario County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail, or $2,000 secured bond.

A stay away order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim. The defendent posted bail, according to deputies, and will appear in Manchester Town Court at a later date.
