Village of Waterloo held a “soft unveiling” of the Purple Heart Memorial at Lafayette Park on August 7th. Congressman Tom Reed was the master of ceremonies. Mayor Jack O’Connor led the Pledge of Allegiance followed by prayer and a moment of silence led by Chaplain and VFW Commander Chuck Nightingale. Senator Pam Helming introduced the guest speakers including Retired Air Force Colonel Dan Grillone and Purple Heart recipient Sargent Major Christopher Balch. Lizzie Lipker of the local singing group “The Lipker Sisters” led the singing of the National Anthem. The full dedication of this Memorial will be held on May 30th in 2021.
