Trooper, three civilians hurt after vehicle slams into cruiser during traffic stop

New York State Police say a trooper and three civilians were transported to a local hospital after a three-car crash along I-88 in Otsego County on Monday.

Around 5:06 p.m. a trooper had a vehicle stopped for a traffic infraction on I-88 east. A third vehicle failed to move over and crashed into the trooper’s vehicle.


Officials say the trooper’s vehicle had all emergency lights activated during the stop.

The trooper was transported to Bassett Medical Center by AMR Ambulance for head and neck injuries.


The occupants of the vehicle that was stopped, a 21-year-old woman and three-year-old child of Edwardsville, P.A. were transported to A.O. Fox Hospital for head and neck injuries.

The driver that struck the troop car, a 32-year-old female of Richmondville was also transported to A.O. Fox Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
