Police: Drunk driver almost ran three people over, then fought one of the victims

A 25-year-old Canandaigua man was taken into custody after nearly running over three people while driving drunk.

Police say Julian Cooper, 25, of Canandaigua was charged with felony DWI, felony AUO, operating without an interlock device, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, three counts of reckless endangerment, obstructing governmental administration, and resining arrest.


Police investigating following the report of a fight in progress on Bristol Street. It was determined that Cooper was operating a vehicle which nearly struck two adults with a child stroller walking along Bristol Street.

He then stopped the vehicle and engaged in a physical alert cation with another person in front of the child. Officers determined that Cooper was intoxicated and resisted while being taken into custody.

He had a prior DWI conviction which resulted in the charges being elevated to felony status.

Cooper was transported to the Ontario County Jail pending arraignment.
