New York State Police say a 27-year-old Painted Post resident was arrested and taken into custody after fleeing a traffic stop with children in his vehicle.
Matthew Stanton, 27, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, unlawfully fleeing, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, and numerous vehicle and traffic violations.
Police say they attempted to perform a traffic stop in the town of Addison on County Route 1. The operator of the vehicle, identified later as Stanton failed to stop and fled the scene.
The vehicle became disabled due to tire failure and was located along with the driver. Troopers say no children were hurt.
The charges will be answered at a later date.
