Two more lawsuits have been filed against the Weedsport Central School District as part of the Child Victims Act, after they claim officials failed to protect them from sex abuse on district property.
The complaints were filed under the look-back provision, which was extended this week by Governor Andrew Cuomo. His extension gave victims of sex abuse in decades’ past another year to file legal action.
The Citizen reports that one of the new cases follows an earlier lawsuit, which identifies the same abuser. The second, is connected to a former teacher’s aide, who was arrested and convicted of having sexual contact with students over 16 years ago.
