Penn Yan swim area reopens after HAB spotting last week

The swimming area at Indian Pines Park in Yates County has reopened.

It’s located in Penn Yan and was closed to the public after a harmful algal bloom was spotted.

Officials say they will continue to monitor for HABs at Indian Pines and Red Jacket parks on a daily basis.

That is expected to last through the summer and into the fall. We’re now entering ‘peak’ HAB season.
