Ontario County Emergency Management Director Jeffrey Harloff says a passing motorist, who is a firefighter in Seneca County, noticed smoke coming from a one-story house on Pre Emption Road in the town of Phelps.
The Ontario County E-911 Center dispatched the Oaks Corners and Geneva fire departments for a possible structure fire, which resulted in a number of other agencies responding in assistance.
Harloff says the one-story structure was not occupied at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported, but due to heat and humidity one firefighter was treated and evaluated on scene.
The fire is being investigated by the Fire Coordinator, Oaks Corners Fire Department, and the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
Harloff says North Side, Phelps, and Border City fire departments all responded to the scene.
