Sheriff: Yates County business cited for employees not wearing face coverings

Sheriff Ron Spike reports that a business in Yates County was cited after violations of New York’s face-covering mandate.

In a press release, Spike said that an appearance ticket was issued to the business owner – identified as Leon Hoover – for violating Section 12 of the NYS Public Health Law.

Employees were said to be interacting with customers at Himrod Farm Supply and Hardware without facial coverings when within 6 feet.

“Counseling and warnings had been issued multiple times to this business by both town code enforcement and by deputies int he last several weeks, and PAUSE complaints from citizens continued with the latest this past weekend,” Sheriff Spike said. “The matter is now in local justice court with the district attorney prosecuting.”

Spike says the respondent will appear in Milo Town Court on July 23rd to answer the charge.
