Police say a 50-year-old Canandaigua man faces hate crime related charges after an investigation by the Canandaigua Police Department.
Michael Drake, 50, of Canandaigua was arrested on July 10th for first-degree criminal contempt, a felony; and second-degree aggravated harassment as a hate crime.
Drake is accused of sending threatening text messages to a protected party. A court order had been issued at an earlier date preventing contact, of which he violated.
The hate crime charge stems from one of the alleged messages containing racial slurs and threats of violence toward the victim and her children.
Drake was held at the Ontario County Jail pending arraignment.
