The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says Route 64 was shut down for more than an hour on Friday after a vehicle fire.
Deputies were called to 2380 State Route 64 for the report of a car fire. East Bloomfield and Ionia fire departments were called to the scene as well.
Myles Standish, 50, of Naples was traveling home from work in a 2011 Kia Sorrento when he noticed smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle. He was able to safely pull to the side of the road and exit.
However, the vehicle car fire and became fully-engulfed a short time later. Firefighters worked at the scene to put out the blaze.
No injuries were reported. The road was shut down as crews worked the scene. No other property was damaged, according to deputies.
