The Canandaigua Police Department reports the arrest of a 30-year-old Waterloo resident following an investigation.
Police say Joseph Wickum, 30, of Waterloo was charged with second-degree attempted rape.
Investigators say Wickum used social media to arrange a meeting with what he believed was a 14-year-old child for the purpose of sexual activity.
When Wickum arrived at the location for the meeting he was taken into custody by an undercover detective.
Wickum was processed and released. He will answer the charge at a later date.
