DWI charge upgraded to felony after traffic stop, investigation in Ontario County

Deputies report the arrest of a 34-year-old Canandaigua man following a sick or intoxicated driver complaint on State Route 364.

Deputies say they located a vehicle operated by Joseph Gage, 34, of Canandaigua and conducted a traffic stop.


Upon investigation Gage was found to be operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to the Ontario County Jail where he submitted to a breath test.

Upon checking Gage’s driving history it showed him to have a previous conviction for driving while intoxicated in the last 10 years. He was subsequently charged with felony driving while intixociated.

Gage was issued tickets and will answer the charges at a later date.
