Family members of the 20-year-old who attempted to save the three swimmers in Sodus Bay on Thursday has died.
Draven Starr-Howell’s grandmother tells News10NBC that he succumbed to injuries around 2 p.m. on Friday.
Deputies had said that the help of Starr-Howell and another individual was crucial in saving the three women.
On Thursday, deputies reported that the 20-year-old was overtaken by waves in the bay. He was airlifted to a hospital in Rochester.
No updates were immediately available on the condition of the three who were rescued.
