After Tuesday’s strong showing by Chris Jacobs, the Republican vying to win a special election in the 27th District, Nate McMurray is expected to make an announcement on Friday.
McMurray is the Democrat, who challenged Chris Collins two years ago, but ultimately was defeated. Collins would later plead guilty in federal court, clearing the way for a special election to fill the remainder of the term.
Another election will be held this fall. Jacobs won the Republican Primary held on Tuesday, so the two will face-off again in November, regardless outcome of the special election.
Jacobs had received 69% of the vote, compared to McMurray’s 30%. The 27th District includes part of Ontario County.
