Chris Jacobs holds significant leads in 27th primary, special elections

There was a special election on Tuesday in the 27th Congressional District, which includes part of Ontario County.

The two primary contestants were Chris Jacobs, a Republican, and Nate McMurray, a Democrat. Those two, plus Duan Whitmer and Michael Gammariello rounded out the list of candidates on the special election race.

However, there was also a primary contest for Republicans to see who will appear on the ballot in November. McMurray is already set to appear then.

Former Congressman Chris Collins vacated his seat last fall. As of late-Tuesday, Jacobs held a 62-29 lead over McMurray in the special election. In the primary contest, Jacobs led 69-17 over Beth Parlato.
