Sodus man accused of rape, abusing child for more than two years

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Sodus man on a first-degree rape charge after an investigation into contact he had with a 9-year-old child.

Mark Stedge Jr., 24, was charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sex abuse, and first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child.

He was arrested after it was reported to deputies that he was having sexual contact with a 9-year-old child. Stedge is accused of raping the victim over a two year period.

Deputies said there were multiple instances of abuse over that time.

He was arrested and arraigned. Deputies say Stedge was held without bail at the Wayne County Jail.
