It was a 12 minute address that touched on all aspects of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s daily press briefings that started in mid-March, as the Coronavirus Pandemic began ripping through New York.
Businesses were shut down, people were advised to stay at home, but now – some 111 days later – the state is on its way to reopening. In his final planned daily briefing, Cuomo thanked frontline workers, healthcare professionals, and residents for participating in the COVID-19 response.
While New York saw the higheset rates of infection and deaths from the virus – it now has some of the lowest numbers in the U.S. The Finger Lakes and Central New York are both in ‘Phase 3’ of economic reopening, and are expected to enter ‘Phase 4’ at the close of next week.
Cuomo said press briefings would be held on an ‘as needed’ basis. Meaning, if a spike in the virus necessitates daily updates – the Governor will return.
Check out the full-update from Friday, which featured a pre-recorded message, and no press.
