Suspect, police officer both treated at hospital after Penn Yan incident

Police say a Penn Yan man was arrested on several charges after an incident at a business in Penn Yan on Tuesday.

It happened during the evening hours, when Christopher Hawley, 29, was throwing pool balls and other items at the patrons inside the establishment.

Police didn’t identify the place of business, but when they arrived – Hawley was being held down by patrons.

That’s when the 29-year-old spit blood and saliva at officers. He was taken into custody and brought to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital for treatment.

He was charged with obstructing governmental administration, harassment, and disorderly conduct.

The officer was treated for blood exposure to the eyes at Soldiers and Sailors and released.
