Voters approve budget in Pal-Mac school district

Voters in the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District overwhelmingly approved the 2020-21 district budget by a margin of 1,494 yes votes to 591 no votes. This year’s vote was conducted solely by absentee ballot due to the ongoing impacts of COVID-19.

As part of the passed budget, the tax levy will increase 2.1%. In total, the projected budget will be $42,008,00 for the 2020-21 school year.

“On behalf of our entire district, I would like to thank our community for its continued support of our students,” said Superintendent Bob Ike.

Voters also approved (1,541 yes votes to 544 no votes) the use of Bus Purchase Reserve Funds to purchase two full-size replacement buses. As part of the purchase, expenses for the buses will be eligible for reimbursement in the form of NYS transportation aid at the district’s aid ratio which is currently 88.5%.

Additionally, Laura Arrington, Susan Herendeen and Sherry Lambert were elected to the Pal-Mac Board of Education by voters to fill three board vacancies. Each seat is for a 3-year term. Arrington and Lambert are current board members and will retain their seats while Herendeen will replace outgoing board member Sue Moak who did not seek re-election.
