Deputies: Port Byron woman hurt after drunk driver crashes into rear of her vehicle in Tyre

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Syracuse driver following a two-car crash at the intersection of State Route 5 and State Route 89 in Tyre.

Deputies say it happened around 7 a.m. on Sunday and resulted in a DWI charge.

Nina Koczynski, 47, of Port Byron was struck from behind by a second vehicle traveling the same direction as her.

Deputies say the second driver, identified as Shannon McKiernan, 25, of Syracuse was found to be intoxicated.

Kolczynski was treated at the scene and sought medical attention. McKiernan was transported to Geneva General Hospital by North Seneca Ambulance.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene, according to deputies. She was charged with speed not reasonable, following too closely, and driving while intoxicated.

The charges will be answered at a later date.
