One sent to hospital, another ticketed after two-car crash on Rt. 14 in Lyons

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the investigation of a two-car personal injury crash on State Route 14 in the town of Lyons.

Deputies say it occurred around 11:20 a.m. on Sunday when 18-year-old Janice Horning, of Clyde was traveling east on Sohn Alloway Road when she failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection with Route 14.

Horning entered the intersection and struck by a vehicle traveling south on Route 14. That car was being operated by Joseph Briggs, of Lyons.

Briggs’ vehicle overturned and landed on it’s tires from the force of the crash, according to deputies. A passenger in that vehicle was transported to Strong Hospital for a checkover.

Deputies say Horning was ticketed for failing to stop at a stop sign. She was also ticketed for failing to yield the right of way.

Deputies were assisted by the Lyons Town Ambulance and Fire Department.
