As the Finger Lakes region enters ‘Phase 3’ of economic reopening – the regional control room gave the green light for yard sales.
Garage and yard sales for the sale of used goods by private individuals in residential settings as of are now permitted to operate as long as the sellers ensure the following precautions to ensure the health and safety of our community, officials said in a press release.
Here are the guidelines:
1 – Occupancy of the space used for the sale is limited to the number of people who can be safely and appropriately spaced such that each person is at least six feet away from others and, in no case, should the space be occupied by more than 10 people at any given time, in accordance with Executive Order 202.33, as extended;
2 – Appropriate face coverings must be properly used (covering one’s mouth and nose) by people in areas or situations where they are likely to come within six feet of others, in accordance with Executive Order 202.17, as extended; and
3 – Adequate hand hygiene supplies (e.g. hand sanitizer) and regular cleaning/disinfection protocols are in place. Sellers may consult the New York Forward safety plan template for additional information on precautions to consider implementing during such sales.
“We are pleased to be able to share this guidance from the Finger Lakes Control Room as we take yet another step to return to near normal activities,” health officials said in a statement.
