Witness tells DEC that two swans were run down by boater at Sodus Point

The Department of Environmental Conservation has confirmed that they are looking into reports that a boat ran over two swans near Sodus Point over the weekend.

A witness shared images to Facebook and that post was shared with a number of media outlets in the region.

The Canandaigua Messenger reports that the DEC didn’t confirm or deny the incident, but did note that they are looking into the matter.

The wintess said in a post that it happened during the afternoon hours on Saturday. Two swans were run down by the boat, which had a total of three people on it. One of the swans was killed.

The witness described it as a heartbreaking scene.
