Police: Corning woman attacked 100-year-old with hammer at his home, now faces second-degree murder charge

Police say a 51-year-old Corning woman was arrested on a murder charge following an investigation into a brutal attack.

Brenda McKay, 51, struck a 100-year-old man in the head several times with a hammer at his home on West First Street.


The victim, identified as Gerald Early, was airlifted to Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital where he died.

McKay has been charged with second-degree murder and held overnight at the Steuben County Jail.

She’s expected to be arraigned on Sunday.
