Salons reopen, but with significantly limited services available

Hair stylists and barbers can begin working again.

They were given the green light to start work during Phase 2, which officially got underway in the Finger Lakes, Central New York, and Southern Tier on Friday.

Governor Andrew Cuomo made the announcement around 1 p.m. on Friday, and by evening – several salons had already reopened.

The state released guidelines – both mandatory and recommended – as they navigate the reopening process.

Other salon services are not allowed to begin in Phase 2, and likely will not come until much later in the restart process.
