The Auburn Police Department provided an update on the shooting, which prompted a large law enforcement presence in a city neighborhood during the afternoon hours on Thursday.
The call for multiple shots fired came in around 12:48 p.m. in the area of Jefferson and Orchard streets. It appeared at the time, according to police, that multiple people were involved. They all fled in various directions – on foot and in vehicles.
Police learned 30 minutes later that a 21-year-old arrived at Auburn Community Hospital with a gunshot wound. That person, who suffered non-life threatening injuries was involved int he incident. He was transported to University Hospital for further treatment.
Now, police say they are searching for a suspect. Witnesses described the individual as a black male, in his early-20s, with a thin build – standing around 6′ tall. At the time of the incident he was wearing blue shorts with a white shirt.
Law enforcement say he should be considered armed and dangerous.
The area was closed off as police combed the scene.
