Police: $40,000 worth of marijuana found during investigation

Police arrested a 20-year-old man following an investigation into the sale of marijuana and concentrated cannabis in Cayuga County.

The Finger Lakes Drugs Task Force, which was assisted by the Auburn Police Department and New York State Police Violent Gang Narcotics Enforcement Team seized more than 8 lbs of marijuana.

It all had a street value of more than $40,000, according to police. There was also about $11,000 seized in cash.

Thomas G. Lipiska Jr., 20, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and second-degree criminal possession of marijuana. Both of these charges are felonies. He was also arrested on misdemeanor charges.

The District Attorney’s Office will prosecute the case.
