The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports that one person was sent to the hospital with a chest injury following a crash on State Route 88 around 9:11 a.m. on Thursday.
Ann Vanepps, 81, of Wolcott was traveling south in Sodus near Joy Road when she fell asleep at the wheel, allowing her vehicle to leave the roadway and enter a ditch.
It traveled approximately 200 feet before striking a tree off the road.
As result of the collision she complained of chest pain, and was transported to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital for treatment.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Sodus Town Ambulance.
