Cuomo: Small religious gatherings can begin this week

Governor Andrew Cuomo gave the green light on religious gatherings at his daily press briefing on Wednesday.

The move came as questions loomed about the future of those religious settings. Now, they can resume activity with no more than 10 congregated at a time.

“I understand their desire to get back to religious ceremonies as soon as possible,” Cuomo said. His move to grant the change came as cases continue to decline, and calls from religious leaders grew louder.

On Tuesday, he said small gatherings over the Memorial Day weekend would be allowed to celebrate the men and women who served.

Social distancing and face masks will be required at all events.
