Auburn High’s 2020 senior class signs line Lake Ave.

On Tuesday, staff and administrators gathered at Auburn High School to install nearly 300 signs along Lake Avenue to recognize and honor the class of 2020. Each sign has the name and photo of a graduating senior. The signs span the entire length of the Auburn High School property on Lake Ave from Sand Beach Road to Fleming Street.

The purpose of the signs is to acknowledge that the seniors have had their capstone high school year cancelled and have overcome the unprecedented challenges of virtual learning and school closure with both class and dignity. The Auburn Enlarged City School District would like to recognize the hard work and dedication of the class of 2020.

The signs were facilitated through generous donations made by the Auburn High School staff, faculty, and student clubs as well as several organizations such as the Auburn Teachers Association, Auburn Administrators Association, Auburn Sports Boosters, Auburn Beautification Commission, Auburn Police Department Union (New York Fingerlakes Region Police Officers Local No. 195), Majorpalooza and A & M Graphics.

The district hopes that the lawn sign tribute will bring a smile to the faces of the entire Auburn community.
