Sheriff Brian Schenck reports that on Friday around 1:32 p.m. deputies were dispatched to the Tractor Supply Store on Grant Avenue for a suspicious person complaint.
Upon arrival, deputies recognized one of the subjects as Justin Jones, 34, of Ledyard who was wanted on two warrants from the Sheriff’s Office, a warrant from the Auburn Police Department and a detainer warrant from NYS Parole.
Sheriff Schenck says Jones denied his identity and attempted to walk away from the deputy.
Once advised he was under arrest he continued to deny his identity and walk away. Schenck says that as the deputy attempted to secure him a struggle ensued in the vestibule of the store where he broke free and ran from the building across the parking lot to an area alongside the store.
The deputy was able to again secure him and with assistance from several other deputies take the suspect into custody.
He was transported to the Public Safety Building for processing. There were no injuries, according to Schenck.
Jones was arraigned at the Cayuga County Centralized Arraignment Court and is currently being held on the NYS Parole Detainer.
