A Yates County man pleaded guilty to a felony assault charge last week via a video conference court appearance.
District Attorney Todd Casella said Robert Hebding, 38, of Italy, pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted assault, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
He was charged after stabbing another male in November 2019. That occurred in front of children, resulting in additional charges.
While the charges he faced could have resulted in upwards of 25 years in prison – Hebding will likely be sentenced to one year in jail.
“As you know, not much has been happening in the courts as of late. However, we have been cleared to take pleas on certain cases,” District Attorney Todd Casella told the Finger Lakes Times. “Mr. Hebding’s case is adjourned for sentencing, as we are not able to do that remotely.”
