Police: Man employed at daycare facility Canandaigua had illegal images of children on his phone

The Canandaigua Police Department reports the arrest of a 21-year-old Brighton resident following an investigation in the city.

Police say Jeramy Rivera, 21, of Brighton was charged with possessing images of a sexual performance by a child.

On February 6th a cell phone was found at a daycare facility in the City of Canandaigua. The phone had no readily available information that identified the owner of the phone, but did contain numerous images of sexual content involving children that were believed to have been downloaded from the internet.

Police say investigation revealed that it belonged to Rivera, who was an employee of the daycare facility in Canandaigua.

The charge against Rivera was not a qualifying offense for an arraignment so he was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Canandaigua City Court on June 1st, according to police.

Police say it’s an ongoing investigation and additional charges are pending.

The Canandaigua Police Department is also working with the District Attorney’s Office, the Child Advocacy Center and the daycare facility in order to address any concerns of parents who had children enrolled in the facility during the time of Rivera’s employment.
