The owners of Destiny USA say they are working diligently with public health officials to come up with a plan to reopen.
“During this time, we are finalizing plans for implementing a comprehensive range of safety and sanitizing policies and procedures, all designed to make our facilities as safe as possible for our employees, tenants, shoppers and guests,” said Pyramid Group spokesperson, Aiden McGuire to LocalSYR.com.
Retail stores could reopen in the second phase of economic restart.
Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon has said he believes his County will be ready to start at least Phase I by May 15th.
The move raises questions about other shopping malls throughout the region – like the Waterloo Premium Outlets and Eastview Mall located in Victor. Both are heavy drivers of the local economy through sales tax collection, and the longer both sit empty – the harder hit local governments will be.
