Pietrorazio will attend Philip Merrill College of Journalism at University of Maryland this fall

FingerLakes1.com Reporter Gabriel Pietrorazio has decided to continue his pursuit of higher education at the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland this upcoming fall.

After being admitted into all six journalism graduate school programs that he applied for including Columbia Journalism School, the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, Medill at Northwestern University, American University and the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, he shall be heading to College Park, Maryland and becoming a fearless terrapin in the process.

As a master’s candidate, Pietrorazio is enthusiastic to focus on investigative reporting at the newly founded Howard Center for Investigative Journalism, a partnership with the Knight Foundation.

The Howard Center collaborates with prominent national news organizations including National Public Radio and the Associated Press on investigative reporting projects.

Pietrorazio is also thrilled about the possibility of eventually joining Capital News Service, a student-run statewide news wire organization in Maryland with bureaus scattered across Baltimore, Annapolis, and the nation’s capital in Washington D.C.

“I am honored and humbled by this opportunity to be a part of Philip Merrill College as a graduate student and pursue my unbridled passion for fearless journalism this fall regardless of whether I am studying on campus or remotely due the COVID-19 pandemic,” Pietrorazio said.
