Canandaigua driver ticketed after crash on Rt. 96 in Ontario County

On Sunday around 2:53 p.m. first responders were called to the scene of a two-car crash near the intersection of State Route 96 and County Road 25.

Deputies said a vehicle operated by Dana Gardner, 24, of Canandaigua was struck by another vehicle operated by Lucas Raes, 40, of Phelps.

Witnesses say Gardner passed through a steady red light while traveling north through the Route 96 intersection. She suffered minor injuries.

No other individuals were hurt. Deputies said in a press release that Gardner was ticketed for failing to stop at a steady red light.

However, there have been conflicting reports about who was ticketed. We’ve reached out to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office for clarification.

Deputies with the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, firefighters from the Clifton Springs Fire Department, and personnel with Finger Lakes Ambulance responded to the scene.
