The Auburn Industrial Development Agency will hold a public hearing on a proposed Test Plastics expansion, which will bring 200 new jobs, and manufacture the coveted rapid coronavirus test kits.
According to The Auburn Citizen, Tessy Plastics will invest $18 million on physical changes brought on by the move. Of the 200 jobs, the average position would pay around $46,000 per year.
Tessy is asking for approval to extend a property tax abatement agreement on the site, exempting the company from around $720,000 in sales tax.
The goal at the facility will be simple: Produce 10 million rapid test kits per month.
The hiring of those 200 positions could be completed in as few as 13 weeks.
