Two charged with obstruction after train-car collision in Wayne County

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of two Palmyra man following the investigation into a car vs. train crash.

Lucas Devito, 19, and Zachary Devito, 20, of Palmyra were formally charged with obstructing governmental administration following investigation.

Deputies say they responded to 4145 Hogback Hill Road in Palmyra for a sedan, which had been struck by a CSX train.

The operator of the vehicle state that he got stuck on the tracks and was unable to get the car freed before it was struck by the train.

Deputies say that Lucas Devito was told several times to leave the scene, as the investigation unfolded. Then, Zachary Devito attempted to prevent deputies from completing the arrest.

Both were released on appearance tickets and will appear before Palmyra Town Court on June 23rd.

The entire incident unfolded during the overnight hours – around 1:30 a.m., according to deputies.
