DiNapoli says bankruptcy for states isn’t legal, won’t work as NYS looks for federal funds

New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli says the federal government needs to step up and deliver funds to states across the U.S.

While Governor Andrew Cuomo and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had a war of words last week over a potential ‘Blue State Bailout’, DiNapoli says the notion of bankruptcy is useless in this scenario.

“The notion of bankruptcy for our state makes absolutely no sense and you can’t do it legally,” DiNapoli told Rochester Chamber of Commerce President Bob Duffy in a livestream on Monday.

State leaders say important jobs will have to be cut if money doesn’t come soon.
