Sheriff Kevin Henderson provided an update late-Saturday on the fatal crash that happened around 5 p.m. in the town of Farmington.
At 5:06 p.m. deputies responded to the intersection of Hook and Allen Padgham roads for the report of a two-car crash.
Upon investigation, deputies confirmed that Zackary Bassett, 21, of Palmyra was traveling south on Hook Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign before entering the intersection with Allen Padgham Road.
At the same time, a small ford dump truck, operated by Julio Caballero, 37, of Fairport was traveling west and collided with the driver’s side of the Bassett vehicle.
Deputies say the dump truck was owned by Wayside Garden Center and was also towing a trailer at the time of the crash.
New York State Police, Farmington Fire Department, and Victor Farmington Ambulance all responded to the scene.
Sheriff Henderson confirmed in a press release that Bassett died at the scene. The intersection was shut down for approximately 4 hours.
All parties involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
Deputies with the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office say one person died in the crash.
