A Wayne County man is in the hospital after being rescued by a local newspaper delivery person.
The delivery person said it was odd that his customer was not picking up the newspaper as he made daily deliveries.
Chris Kowalski has a route in the town of Ontario. He alerted a supervisor, and then made a call to 911.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports that a 76-year-old man had fallen, and couldn’t get up. He was taken to Rochester General Hospital.
“Even without the pandemic, I personally believe this is something that we shouldn’t let go, keeping an eye on each other,” Kowalski told WHEC-TV. “That’s something we should be doing regardless of the pandemic. I’ve always been keeping an eye on people regardless.”
For elderly customers, Kowalski feels like a last line of connection between isolated homes and the outside world.
