A new Siena College poll shows that a majority of CEOs in Upstate New York think it will take more than six months to dig out of the economic crisis caused by COVID-19.

That’s to say it will likely take more than six months to return to pre-virus levels.

The poll was sponsored by the Business Council of New York State Inc. and found only 31% of CEOs expect the state’s economy to return to pre-virus levels within the next six months.

A total of 35% of CEOs believe business won’t return to normal until 2021.

The poll found that 58% of those polled believe New York should not relax public health restrictions until May 1st. The poll also found that 40% of businesses in Upstate New York have laid off employees.
