Officials in Ontario County are responding after a confirmed COVID-19 case at a local Walmart store.
That store was the location in Hopewell, which sits at the edge of, and serves a large portion of Canandaigua.
Public Health Director Mary Beer says walking through the store, even if there is a confirmed case is not considered ‘close contact’.
The worker who tested positive for COVID resides in Steuben County. The positive test happened on April 3rd.
“Those at high risk have had close contact with a COVID-19 case. High risk is someone that shares the same household, has direct physical contact, contact with infectious secretions of a COVID-19 case (e.g. being coughed on, touched used paper tissues with a bare hand) or being within 6 feet of a case for 10 minutes or more,” Beer explained.
She noted that some can be asymptomatic, though.
